País exporta a EEUU US$5,125.9 millones y a China doscientos

Mientras que en el año 2019 República Dominicana exportó hacia Estados Unidos US$5,125.9 millones, el valor exportado al mercado asiático fue de solo US$200 millones.

Durante una entrevista el pasado martes trans­mitida por CNN, el pre­sidente de la República, Luis Abinader, fue enfáti­co en que la política exte­rior del país con Estados Unidos es especial por­que más de dos millones de dominicanos viven en esa nación norteamerica­na y porque es el princi­pal socio comercial, tanto en exportación como en importación.

Sin embargo, Abina­der aclaró que también las relaciones diplomáti­cas con China se manten­drán y el Gobierno domi­nicano está abierto ante cualquier inversión que deseen hacer los empre­sarios chinos siempre que no sean en sectores estra­tégicos de la seguridad nacional.

El presidente Abinader está muy claro en que de­be mantener una relación estrecha con Estados Uni­dos pese a las tensiones de este país con China. Y es que desde hace varios años, Estados Unidos es el principal destino de expor­taciones e importaciones dominicanas.

Año tras año, la balanza comercial entre Estados Unidos y República Dominicana va en aumento. En el año 2019, de acuerdo con datos del Centro de Exportación e Inversión (CEI-RD), el principal destino de exportación fue Estados Unidos con US$5,125.9 millones.

China no está dentro de los primeros cinco lu­gares. Haití fue el segun­do destino de las expor­taciones en 2019 con US$$826.6 millones, sigue Suiza con US$784.1 millo­nes. El cuarto y quinto lu­gar lo ocuparon Puerto Ri­co (US$501.3 millones) y la India con US$402.9 millo­nes, respectivamente.

Sin embargo, no es que China está muy lejos de esta cifra y podría seguir en aumento, ya que en 2019, según el embajador dominicano en el país asiático, Briunny Garabito, las exportaciones de República Dominicana a la República Popular China se duplicaron con relación al 2018 al alcanzar los US$200 millones. En el año 2018, este monto fue solo de US$83 millones.

Si se comparan las expor­taciones de República Do­minicana a Estados Unidos y a China en el 2019, el principal socio comercial le lleva ventaja al gigante asiá­tico de unos US$4,925.9 millones.

Crecimiento anual
Desde el año 2014, las re­laciones entre Estados Uni­dos y China se han ido for­taleciendo. En ese año las exportaciones fueron de US$4,059.84 millones, en 2015 de US$4,025.18 mi­llones, que aunque bajaron un poco en 2016 subieron a US$4,156.96 millones, y en 2017 a US$4,244.27 millo­nes. En 2018, estas expor­taciones a Estados Unidos fueron de US$4,722.53 mi­llones. Del 2014 al 2019, las exportaciones hacia Esta­dos Unidos presentaron un aumento de US$1,066.06 millones.

El intercambio comer­cial pasó de US$10,688.93 millones en 2014 a US$13,393.87 millones en 2018, según el Manual de Oportunidades entre RD y Estados Unidos del CEI-RD.

Las importaciones de Re­pública Dominicana a Es­tados Unidos también han aumentado desde el 2014, ya que en este año era de US$6,629.09 millones y ya para el 2018 habían creci­do a US$8,671.34 millones.

Principales productos
De acuerdo con datos ofi­ciales los productos más exportados a Estados Uni­dos son los cigarros “pu­ros”, instrumentos y apa­ratos de medicina, cirugía o veterinaria, disyunto­res para una tensión me­nor o igual a 1,000 vol­tios, artículos de joyería y sus partes, además de me­tales preciosos distintos de la plata y de camisetas de punto y de algodón como de T-shirts.

Otros son los calzados, azú­car de caña, aparatos de ra­yos ultravioletas y telefonía celular o radiotelefonía.

Remesas
Estados Unidos es también el principal país emisor de remesas familiares, apor­tando más del 50%, según el Banco Central.

En el 2018, Estados Uni­dos representó el 77.4% del total de remesas que llega­ron a República Dominica­na, en 2019 representaba en 76.6% y entre enero y julio de este año representó en 81.8% de los US$4,302.6 millones que ingresaron al país por este concepto. Chi­na no figura entre los paí­ses emisores de remesas del Banco Central.

 EE.UU. fue el mayor emisor
Estadísticas

En 2019, los esta­dounidenses repre­sentaron la mayor cantidad de turistas que visitaron el país por vía aérea con un total 2,030,257, 00 por encima de otros paí­ses como Canadá, regiones como Amé­rica del Sur o con­tinentes como Eu­ropa.

En ese año, solo lle­garon 11,880 turis­tas desde China, de acuerdo con el Banco Central.
