Las perspectivas de crecimiento de la economía global se mantienen generalmente tibias, según Banco Internacional

El Banco de Pagos Internacionales (BPI) observa que la "mejora económica es incompleta y frágil" y descarta que se vaya a volver pronto al crecimiento que había antes de la crisis por la pandemia de coronavirus.

El BPI señala en su informe trimestral, publicado este lunes, que los mercados de valores han subido con fuerza entre julio y comienzos de septiembre impulsados por los estímulos monetarios que han aplicado los bancos centrales y los estímulos fiscales de los gobiernes.

Pero parece que los precios de los activos de riesgo se han desconectado de las perspectivas económicas y del "deterioro de la calidad del crédito".

"Las perspectivas de crecimiento de la economía global se mantienen generalmente tibias, lo que anticipa que la pérdida del producto interior bruto (PIB) no se recuperará hasta antes de finales de 2021", según el BPI, cuya sede está en la ciudad suiza de Basilea.

De hecho, muchas empresas han revisado a la baja sus perspectivas de crecimiento, en algunos casos de forma significativa, en algunas de las mayores economías avanzadas.

El jefe del departamento Monetario y Económico del BPI, Claudio Borio, dijo al presentar el informe que "los últimos movimientos en las acciones sugieren que crece la sensibilidad de los inversores a las implicaciones del entorno actual para las valoraciones elevadas".

Unos pronósticos de contracción económica este año entre el 4.5 y el 11% implican un incremento de las tasas de quiebras empresariales de entre un 20 y un 40%.

Pero gracias a las medidas de apoyo público, muchas economías han visto un número menor de insolvencias empresariales desde comienzos de año que en el periodo equivalente en los cinco años anteriores.

Las bolsas de EEUU y China son las que más han subido y sus principales índices bursátiles superaron en agosto sus valores anteriores al estallido de la pandemia.

Sin embargo, las bolsas de otras economías avanzadas y de economías emergentes, aunque han recuperado parte de las pérdidas de marzo, todavía se encuentran un 10% por debajo de los máximos anteriores.

Algo menos de la mitad de las acciones incluidas en el índice estadounidense S&P 500 ha superado los precios que tenían en febrero y las seis mayores empresas tecnológicas han excedido los precios que tenían a mediados del mes en un 40%.
